Harris, Bates, Kuzmich advance to Regionals 

Some Teague Lions and Lady Lions competed in the Area Track Meet in Fairfield last Wednesday, April 9. When all was said and done J’Kybryen Harris, Bryce Bates and Chloe Kuzmich advanced to the Regional Track Meet which will be held in Huntsville this weekend, April 18-19. Harris and Bates will be competing in triple jump and Kuzmich in the 3200m run. 

 

Lions 

The Lions tallied 20 points at the Area Track Meet to finish tenth place out of 13 schools, defeating Palestine, Groesbeck, Rogers, and Buffalo. 

The 4x100m relay team consisting of Zakary Leija, Bryce Bates, Harris, and Garrett Winkler took sixth place with a time of 43.362. 

Jacob Matthew grabbed sixth place in the shot put contest with a throw of 42’ 0¼”. 

Harris won the gold in the triple jump with a jump of 45’ 11½”. Harris grabbed sixth in the long jump competition with a distance of 21’4”. 

Bates grabbed third place in the triple jump competition with a jump of 43’11½” to advance to Regionals. 

 

Lady Lions 

The Lady Lions garnered 8 points at the Area Track Meet. 

Kuzmich grabbed fifth place in the 1600m run with a time of 6:18.572. In the 3200m run, Kuzmich took fourth place with a time of 13:23.270 to advance her to Regionals. 

With a time of 1:49.476, Deja Franklin, A’Shaiya Jones, Micah Newsom, and Hadley Vondra placed sixth in the 4x200m relay.
