Sales tax rebate check shows 44.59% increase
The City of Teague has received a check in the amount of $42,987.25 for their portion of the state sales tax rebate sent out each month by the State Comptroller?s office.
The April rebate check shows a 44.59 percent increase over the $29,729.43 check sent to the city at this time last year. So far this year, the City of Teague has received $184,677.28 in sales tax rebates, a 24.58 percent increase over the $148,229.51 received during the first four months of 2016.
Three quarters of all sales tax rebate checks sent to the City of Teague are deposited into the general fund for local operations and the remaining twenty-five percent of the check is deposited into the Teague Economic Development Corporation?s fund account.
According to Texas Comptroller, Glenn Hegar, the State of Texas has distributed total net payments of $620.2 million in monthly sales tax revenue to Texas cities for the month of April. The number is 4.9 percent more than the total from 2016.
The City of Fairfield received a check in the amount of $113,102.69 this month. The check is 2.05 percent less than the $115,475.73 check received at this time last year. So far this year, the City of Fairfield has received $524,126.91, a decrease of 10.53 percent from the $585,838.32 received by this time last year.
The city of Wortham received a check totaling $7,326.99, a decrease of 46.26 percent from the $13,634.80, received in April of 2016. So far this year, Wortham has received checks totaling $39,164.06, a decrease of 20.72 percent from this time last year.
The City of Streetman received a check in the amount of $2,900.96, a decrease of 18.99 percent from the $13,634.80, check received during April of 2016.
So far this year Streetman has received checks totaling $12,616.43, a 20.45 percent decrease from the $15,861.38, received during the first four months of 2016.
